Virtual debate summer programs run by an elite U.S. debate & MUN school designed for middle and high school students of all experience levels – all over the world

Full Week Debate/MUN

International Middle and High School students are warmly welcomed to join US students for three weeks of our summer program sessions. Two are full weeks and one mini-week is a brand new MUN bootcamp. Weekly Debate/MUN Class

Weekly International debate classes for Middle and High School students will continue throughout the summer months on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 8:00-9:30 PM CST. Students of all ability levels will be welcome as we can group by age and ability within each class. Also offered are weekly Model UN classes for Middle and High School students on Tuesday evenings. Jump into an American debate or Model UN program experience from anywhere in the world!

Years of international and virtual teaching experience have led to the creation of our unique summer program model.

In our hybrid international program, students will gather at 6:45 PM CST to focus on skills and introduce the days debate topic and then join US students from 8:45-11:15PM for round table and debate. They’ll get the chance to debate current global issues, make friends and engage with expert instructors.

Experienced high school students may instead join US students of similar experience in an Advanced Debate Seminar which will feature a college level seminar along with fast paced debate instruction. This course is scheduled 8:45 PM - 12:45 AM CST. Given that this time frame may be late for some, international students may request to be among the earlier debaters and leave a bit early.

Additionally, students may opt to register for Model UN simulations with US students. These too will run 8:45 PM - 12:45 AM CST.

New this year!

Model UN Bootcamp

The middle three-day-long session of our program will focus exclusively on MUN skills. Students will learn research and negotiation skills as they participate in full-length simulations of the United Nations processes. The program runs from 8:45 PM to 1 am CST. This three-day session is a great chance for brand new MUNers to learn what the activity is all about and for expert delegates to hone their competitive skills.

Real Learning

At Westfield summer program, learning is always our top priority. Debaters learn how to make persuasive arguments about topics that run the gamut from moral philosophy to pop culture. MUNers tackle pressing global issues and learn to build coalitions and advocate effectively. And everyone has fun!

The skills of debate—including critical thinking, confident public speaking and nuanced understanding of global issues—are exactly the same skills necessary to succeed academically at the high school and college level today.
