  • FRIDAY: Registration at the Santa Clara Marriott for all events.

  • SATURDAY: IE’s at the Santa Clara Marriott; All debate and congress on the Stanford campus.

  • SUNDAY: All rounds will be on the Stanford campus.

  • MONDAY: All rounds will be at the Santa Clara Marriott.


  • Congress: top 5.

  • Events: final round participants, top semi-finalists. Breaks to semis in varsity events with 40 or more competitors.

  • Debate and LD: top 10 speakers in each division, partial double-octas on in varsity LD if entry warrants, octas in varsity policy.

  • SWEEPSTAKES: the top five overall school performances will be awarded handsome trophies. Sweepstakes will be calculated on the basis of open division competitors only as follows:


    • Quarterfinalist: 1 point

    • Semi-finalist: 2 points


    • Finalist: 2 points

    • 7th-4th place: 4 points

    • 3rd place: 6 points

    • 2nd place: 10 points

    • 1st place: 15 points

    Parli and Public Forum:

    • Octos: 2 points

    • Quarters: 4 points

    • Semi-finals: 6 points

    • Second Place: 10 points

    • First Place: 15 points

    Lincoln Douglas:

    • Double octas: 1 point

    • Octas: 2 points

    • Quarters: 4 points

    • Semis: 6 points

    • 2nd place: 10 points

    • 1st place: 15 points


    • Double octas: 2 points

    • Octas: 4 points

    • Quarters: 8 points

    • Semis: 12 points

    • 2nd place: 20 points

    • 1st place: 30 points

    LD and Policy Varsity Speaker Award Points

    • 10th - 5th speaker: 1 point

    • 4th speaker: 2 points

    • 3rd speaker: 3 points

    • 2nd speaker: 4 points

    • 1st speaker: 5 points




Airline and Ground Travel arrangements are underway.

Meals, Snacks and Money

Food will be available for purchase on campus at the Tressider Union and Old Union buildings.

Please have your child bring money for lunch on Friday and breakfast on Saturday and for extras, such as if they stop for coffee or ice-cream etc.

We recommend sending your child with extra healthy snacks and a water bottle to prevent dry mouth during the rounds.




Students should have highlighters, paper and writing instruments to flow.


The registration and participation fee for this tournament is $ per student.  The total deposit including individual and school registration and participation and judging fees is $. Since this is a multi-day event, the hotel, coach’s expenses and air & ground transportation will be tallied after the competition has been completed and divided by the number of debaters who registered.
